2019 Breast Cancer Conference: Advancing the Practice of Patient-Centered Care

Target Audience

This activity is directed toward the members of the breast cancer care team as well as other health professionals interested in the treatment of breast cancer, including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, fellows, pharmacists, care managers, dieticians, researchers, patient advocates and social workers.

Learning Objectives

After participating in the activity, learners should be better able to

  1. Identify principles for effective communication between the breast cancer care team and patients and their families
  2. Describe how cultural beliefs surrounding health and illness influence health outcomes
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of basic health literacy skills through professional examples
  4. Explain the role of patient-centered outcomes research in improving health
  5. Utilize innovative approaches and clinical reasoning in planning and implementing patient-centered care

Accreditation and Credit Designation


This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of American Academy of CME, Inc., (Academy) and Susan G Komen Central and South Jersey. American Academy of CME, Inc., is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

American Academy of CME, Inc., designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurse Practitioners and Nurses

American Academy of CME, Inc, is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Physician Assistants

AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician assistants may receive a maximum of 4.0 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program.

Other Healthcare Professionals

All other Healthcare Professionals will be awarded a certificate of participation.
