Komen Central & South Jersey Survivor Selected as 2016 Ford Warrior Model of Courage

LAWRENCEVLLE, NJ – JUNE 1, 2016 – Komen Central and South Jersey (“CSNJ”) More Good Days Photo 2announces local supporter, Karen Gordon (So. Brunswick, NJ) named 2016 Ford Warriors in Pink Model of Courage (“MOC”). Gordon was selected from over 500 applicants to attend a three-day MOC retreat in New York.

Ford Motor Company has been in the fight against breast cancer for over 20 years, raising funds and awareness through “Warriors in Pink” apparel. The apparel weaves the Symbols of the Warrior, which represent the powerful and courageous who fight against breast cancer, into each original design and helps keep breast health top of mind.

Ford also developed an army of breast cancer “warriors” called Ford Warriors in Pink Models of Courage. MOCs are patients, survivors, thrivers and co-survivors ready to help empower those currently in the fight. MOCs help raise funds and awareness for the cause, as well as help to bring #moregooddays through simple acts of kindness to those in the breast cancer community.

Gordon, Survivor, is very involved at the local level. She is a Race for the Cure (“RFTC”) Committee member, Pink Honor Roll (RFTC fundraising club) member, RFTC Team Captain and Volunteer.  Komen CSNJ was elated to hear Gordon was selected for the 2016 program. “This honor could not have gone to a more deserving person.  In all my years with Komen, I have never had someone on the local level be selected for this opportunity,” said Sally Sheperdson, Komen CSNJ Executive Director.

Gordon’s retreat was a three-day adventure in Mohonk Mountain House in NY. Each day was filled with inspirational and fun activities, breakout sessions and workshops.  “The retreat was magnificent! Ford spoiled us [MOCs] with the venue and taught us so many things to help provide #moregooddays to ourselves, as well as others.  I was honored to be chosen for this program and plan to serve Ford proudly as a 2016 Model of Courage.  We all need to have #moregooddays,” said Gordon.

Ford continues to help people go further every day by giving breast cancer patients and survivors ways to celebrate #moregooddays. To learn more about Ford’s fight against breast cancer, visit: www.fordcares.com.
