Candido Africa III, MD

 

Dr. Africa received his medical training from Far Eastern University, Philippines and specialized in pediatrics. He has held many positions within the New Jersey Department of Health, including Epidemiologist and Research Scientist. He currently is the Program Clinical & Data Manager for New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) which provides clinical management, data analyses and technical assistance to 23 Lead Agencies for the statewide cancer screening of the uninsured or underinsured women and men of New Jersey. Presently, he is also the Acting Executive Director for the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research.

He serves as the contact to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC)/National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) for project data and clinical management of the breast and cervical cancer screening program; conducts training of physicians, nurses, and health care providers on the Cancer Screening and Tracking (CaST) system, and the NJ Prostate Cancer (PCS) data systems; and reviews breast or cervical cancer cases for treatment, under the Medicaid Treatment Act.
